Reasons why resumes fail
Knowing how the recruitment process works is critical...
Is your resume getting past the Robots?
Most companies these days use ‘Robots’ (an ATS [Applicant Tracking System] or software to Parse which extracts data and imports into a candidate record) to manage the high volume of incoming resumes. If your resume is not ATS friendly your resume may not be considered at all!
Formatting just as important as content
Resume content shows you can do the job, but a poorly formatted resume means you are often never considered. Issues include your CV being incorrectly parsed and/or being ranked too low by the robots. Many resumes still fail even if they make it this far due to layout issues.

Recruiters Heat Map eye tracking your resume

6 Seconds to make a 1st impression
Recruiters will spend as little as 6 seconds initially scanning your resume. With 100 to 200+ applicants per job, they look for reasons to reject candidates so they can then concentrate on the ones they think are best matched. A poorly formatted resume gives them a reason to overlook you.
The little things make a big difference
The font and sizes you use, paragraph, line and page breaks are easy to get wrong. Even page margins, headers and footers can be the cause of your resume not being properly considered. Not to mention section breaks, embedded tables, icons or images and other design issues.
Yes it is simple...simple to get it wrong!
Your resume is often the first point of contact in the job hunt. Get this right and your odds of success rise dramatically. Think of the Pareto Principle; only 20% of applicants will get more than a few seconds deliberation. It seems so simple, yet it is so massively important to get it right first time.
